Vice President of Asset Management
As the Vice President of Asset Management, Mr. Markelz oversees MJW Investments’ portfolio strategy and is responsible for optimizing the portfolio’s operational and financial performance.
Prior to joining MJW Investments, Mr. Markelz was a Director at Institutional Property Advisors (IPA) where he oversaw the day-to-day operations, financial underwriting, market research, and marketing strategy for one of the most active brokerage teams in Southern California. During his tenure, Mr. Markelz was involved in over 175 transactions totaling over 15,000 units and $4 billion in value.
Prior to his position with IPA, Mr. Markelz was an asset manager with JRK Property Holdings, a multifamily owner/operator based in Los Angeles that managed more than 40,000 units nationwide at that time. Mr. Markelz oversaw a portfolio of market rate, student housing, senior housing, and tax credit multifamily assets where he gained extensive experience in managing the acquisition and disposition of assets, revenue and expense optimization, multimillion-dollar renovation programs, investor relations, and employee training.
Prior to his position with JRK, Mr. Markelz was an Associate at Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG), a consulting firm based in New York, where he was focused on business development, account management, and project management in the firm’s Healthcare practice.
Mr. Markelz is a licensed real estate broker in the state of California and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Dartmouth College.
